Leslie took her first Yoga class in 1997 while living in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia where she was working at a local gym. Recognizing immediately how great she felt during and after her practice, she was immediately hooked. Yoga allowed her to combine her interest for physical fitness with the mindful and conscious lifestyle she had been seeking, something she’d sought since buying her first book on meditation at the age of 15.
Over the next 18 years she tried many different types and styles of yoga through her travels. It was in 2009 that she really immersed herself in yoga, while balancing the physical and mental demands of motherhood and a career. Wanting more out of life in 2011 she left her career as an Advertising Account Executive and later that same year she began her teacher training in Vinyasa Flow Yoga at 5 Elements Yoga and Pilates.
Cannabis has also been a significant influence in Leslie's life. Realizing in her twenties that cannabis helped her manage pain from interstitial cystitis, anxiety and stress, Leslie received her prescription for medical cannabis in 2015. Since then, her palliative Mother and two of her young children who have a rarely diagnosed condition called PANDAS have also obtained cannabis prescriptions under her care. She has also been actively advocating for affordable access to cannabis, insurance coverage and learning as much as possible about the healing yet controversial plant.
Leslie knows firsthand how challenging the road can be when seeking alternative treatments and wellness tools not fully recognized by mainstream pharmacology and physicians. She is passionate about helping others understand the benefits of cannabis medicine as part of a balanced wellness routine, and empowering patients with the education and information they need to speak with their doctors and families about cannabis.
Leslie is happily married to her soulmate Jason and has 3 beautiful children. She is also passionate about vegetarianism, documenting the little moments in life (with an iPhone!) and travelling.
